Day 12: The lure of busyness

The whole world roars with subtle whispers of [you could be great if you would just hustle a little more.] And God simply breathes: [Let Me be great. You just go and be.] - Lori Harris

Often I find value in being busy. I boast to others about how busy I am, wanting my work to make me look impressive to others. Saying I'm busy seems like I'm important, that I do things that people need, that I'm am producing valuable things for the world. It really is a trap.

But it seems that God isn't going to grade us on our level of busyness when we meet him. Instead, he urges us to be still.

“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10

Be still. Honor the Sabbath. Love one another. Enjoy a time of rest.

Where can you find stillness today?

How can you give your body what it needs today? That may be sleep, food, stillness, exercise, play.
