Day 2: Finding My Value in God

In my work I feel such pressure to please others: bosses, coworkers, clients, family, church, myself - and God, but usually he's not first on that list.

I try to do the right thing so people will approve of me, and I become more focused on good works and their outcome than on being rooted in Christ.

When I'm feeling insecure I don't go to God first with those concerns - I go to the Internet or TV, books, music, work - stuff that distracts me from going back to God and remembering my true identity in Christ. I forget so easily that in Christ, I am redeemed, I am forgiven, and the God of the universe loves me.

And he loves you too. His grace is enough for all situations.

He loves us when we make mistakes. He loves us when we are depressed. He loves us when we burn dinner, when we say unkind words, when we fail in spectacular ways that we never imagined we would.

God's love may not look like the world going the exact way that we want it to, but it's the love that we need and that lasts forever.

"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" Matthew 6:30

How are you seeing God's love today?

Where do you want to find Your identity?
