This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24
When I was younger and sang this song, I imagined that this was the perfect song for a sunny day with a pleasant grassy field and perhaps a flock of butterflies (I know insects are called swarms, I just like "flock" better for butterflies).
Now that I am older and grassy fields are rare in my life, I wonder how to rejoice and be glad. But I think that God meant this verse to be for all the days.
Days of sunshine and days of storms.
Days of laughter and days of crying.
Days when we're depressed, can't get out of bed, can't get anything done.
It is also for these days that we are to rejoice and be glad, giving thanks to God for everything.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. - Colossians 3:17
