I chose this photo of grass because of the verse from Day 2: "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" Matthew 6:30. In person, this grass wasn't much to look at. The water behind is from one of Texas' many man-made lakes, and not a very pretty one. It was cloudy, the water wasn't clean, and I had a close run-in with poison ivy.
But with the right camera focus, you can just see the beautiful grass. It's amazing that it's mostly green after another long Texas summer. It's beautiful grown wild here and not mowed like in so many places I drive past.
"You must give yourself extravagantly, for security in the wisdom of your own economic prowess is directly opposite to the extravagance of My Father who revels in feeding birds, cultivating grass and inventing flowers simply because... He enjoys doing it" -Phil Streeter
Sometimes it feels like others are being chosen for jobs, for recognition, for collaboration repeatedly instead of me, and sometimes it physically hurts. I want to be chosen all the time, for all the things, even for things I don't want to do.
I want to appear successful.
But my desire for worldly success is not what God wants for me. He wants me to trust him to provide for my needs. And he does. Every time - but usually not in a way I expect or want, but a better one. I just can't always see that.
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
Where are you struggling to trust God to provide?
How is God providing for your needs today?
